We were delighted to recently host a successful and well-attended webinar exploring how MyBins is helping local authorities modernise waste and recycling communication, reduce missed collections, and improve public engagement.
The session was led by Alasdair Meldrum, Director and Founder of MyBins Ltd, alongside Alex Meldrum, Product Director, who shared their combined expertise in both waste management operations and digital service delivery.
With over 35 years’ experience in the waste sector, Alasdair provided valuable insight into the real-world challenges faced by councils, while Alex demonstrated how the MyBins app has been designed to deliver a high-quality, user-focused experience across both Android and iOS platforms.
During the webinar, attendees were shown how MyBins supports residents through personalised bin calendars, collection reminders, recycling guidance, and real-time service updates. The session also highlighted how councils can use the powerful backend system to manage content, send targeted notifications, and communicate directly with households.
Real-world examples from live council deployments were shared, including how MyBins has achieved over 50% household uptake in South Ayrshire and continues to deliver a wider digital reach than traditional social media channels.
The webinar also covered practical considerations such as implementation timescales, costs, and ongoing support, alongside future developments including nationally consistent waste messaging, multi-language support, and potential revenue-sharing opportunities for councils.
This session proved particularly valuable for waste management teams, environmental services, customer services, and digital leads seeking a proven, cost-effective way to improve service delivery and resident satisfaction through smarter digital communication.
We would like to thank all council colleagues who joined us and contributed to the discussion. If you were unable to attend and would like more information about MyBins or future webinars, please get in touch with our team.
